Quality of Life to Celebrate Opening of Douglas Medical Center
The opening ceremony of the Douglas Medical Center will be held on
Wednesday, March 4 at 2:00 in the afternoon at the new clinic
located at 8225 Highway 75 in Horton. Mr. Wayne C. Rowe, Chief
Executive Officer of Quality of Life Health Services, Inc. will act
as Master of Ceremonies. Also scheduled to speak are Mayor Paula
Phillips, Mr. Rusty Freeman, Mr. Lloyd Richey, Dr. Inkil Hwangpo,
and Rev. Willis B. Kelly. Keyesta Sherman, president of the Boaz
Chamber of Commerce will cut the ribbon. After the brief ceremony,
tours of the facility will be offered along with refreshments
provided by Olan Grimes of the Douglas Café.
“It is exciting to have the opportunity
to locate a Quality of Life primary care center in Marshall County
for the first time in our thirty year history. While residents of
Marshall County have utilized services at our Sardis City and Walnut
Grove locations, this site will allow improved medical access for
the Douglas/Horton area. Our organization looks forward to working
within the confines of the existing health care system in Marshall
County by coordinating patient care with the local hospital, local
pharmacy and the existing community service agencies in the area,
“said Mr. Rowe.
Employees of Douglas Medical Center
include Lisa King, Medical Team Secretary; Sonya Armstrong,
Certified Nursing Assistant; Kathy Downey, LPN; Victoria Minter,
Certified Nurse Practitioner and Dr. Inkil Hwangpo, Physician of
Internal Medicine. The medical team will provide basic family
medical care, basic laboratory services, well-child screening,
chronic disease management and patient education. Linked to the
Douglas Pharmacy, Douglas Medical Center accepts most private
insurance as well as Medicaid and Medicare. The center will be open
Wednesdays from 8:00 until 5:00 and other days to be scheduled at a
later date. For an appointment or more information, please call
256-593-3804.
