Ophelia Holston Accepts APHCA Award At Age 91
September 9, 2008……..Ophelia Holston was given the Alabama Primary
Health Care Association’s “Essential Piece” award today at the
corporate offices of Quality of Life Health Services, Inc. Wayne
Rowe, Quality of Life Chief Executive Officer presented the award in
the presence of many of the staff with whom she has worked for over
15 years.
The “Essential Piece” Award is given to those workers in primary
health care who go above and beyond their daily responsibilities to
build stronger and healthier communities in Alabama. The Alabama
Primary Health Care Association is located in Montgomery and is a
professional network of community health care centers. Mrs. Holston
was given a framed certificate and a pin and was featured in the
APHCA Community Connection magazine this summer.
Mr. Rowe said of Mrs. Holston, “She
represents so much more than just a member of housekeeping. She
inspires other employees every day with her friendly and loving ways
of dealing with people.”
Mrs. Holston, who has three children, 11
grandchildren and a 94-year-old sister, said, “I love being at
Quality of Life because these people are like family to me.” She
plans to continue her work with the Environmental Services
Department as long as possible and wants to take piano lessons in
the near future.
