from Atlanta, GA. It's also only 110 miles to Montgomery, AL and 120

East/West transportation route in the Southeast.
Cheaha State Park
Provides lodging, camping, chalets, cabins, hiking trails,
mountain biking, restaurant, and picnic areas for us by the public.
It sits atop Alabama's highest point, Cheaha Mountain, which is also
a part of the Appalachians.
Talladega Scenic Drive
Provides a 29-mile "bird's eye view" of Northeast Alabama along
State Scenic Highway 281. It eventually connects to U.S. Highway 78.
Along the way, the Cheaha State Park, Pinhoti National Recreation
Trail, Cheaha Wilderness, Oxford-Cheaha Road, and Turnipseed Hunt
Camp can all be accessed directly from the drive.
Tallapoosa River
Provides fishing, canoe trail, and boat-ramp access In Cleburne
County to the public. It flows through the Sunrise Region and
includes Lake Wedowee/R. L. Harris Reservoir and Lake Martin
(together claiming 50,000 acres of water).
